Organic Stinging Pest Removal
Who we are
Norman Patterson Jr., the founder of The YellowJacket Expert, has been working with stinging insects most of his life. His curiosity began as a boy when he discovered a natural bee colony in the woods behind his house. Through beekeeping, he eventually learned how to collect yellowjackets, hornets, and wasps for medical laboratories. These labs require venom for patients undergoing sting allergy immunotherapy. Norman has been involved with stinging insects, in one form or another, for over 50 years.
Norman began training his son Josiah when he was just 8 years old. Now 29, Josiah is a YellowJacket Expert in his own right, with 21 years of hands-on experience.
The YellowJacket Expert provides organic and all-natural services to private homes, schools, businesses, and commercial properties. We are known for the safe and effective removal of stinging insects throughout Connecticut and occasionally in parts of New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. We take pride in delivering personalized, high-quality service to every client, solving stinging insect issues quickly, safely, and naturally.
Because the insects we remove are often used to produce venom for sting allergy patients, we never use pesticides, poisons, or chemicals. Instead, we have developed and refined proprietary, organic, and all-natural techniques to remove stinging insects from your property. Due to our connection to the medical community, we are not exterminators. Whenever possible, we remove the insects alive and freeze them for medical use.
We care about each and every person who hires us and tailor each removal to the specific needs of the homeowner, school, or business. Our organic-only approach requires thoughtful, situation-specific solutions based on years of real-world experience.
We primarily remove yellowjackets, hornets, and wasps. When possible, we relocate honeybees and give them to trusted beekeepers. We also offer non-toxic solutions for carpenter bee infestations.
What Makes Us Unique
Three things set The YellowJacket Expert apart:
Our unwavering commitment to organic, all-natural removal methods
Our passion for education and prevention
Our partnership with medical labs to provide venom for allergy patients
We are at the forefront of organic stinging insect removal. Our proprietary techniques are now being imitated by other companies—but we openly share what we’ve learned because we genuinely care about people, pets, and the planet.
We take the time to educate homeowners and business owners on how to prevent infestations. We provide straightforward, lifelong advice on what you can safely do yourself, what should be left to the experts, and how to spot early signs before a nest becomes a problem. As the saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Lastly, we don’t just remove wasps and hornets—we collect them for seven medical laboratories that use the venom to help sting allergy patients through immunotherapy. Every removal is done with that patient in mind. That’s why we never use chemicals, pesticides, or poisons of any kind. Our removal methods follow strict protocols approved by the medical labs we serve.

“Mr. Patterson supplies these and other wasps to medical labs, which harvest their venom and use it to create immunizations for people who are allergic to stings. So he captures the bugs alive, usually with a vacuum. If he finds a nest full of larvae, he will take them home and raise them before shipping them off.”
We have been featured in the following media and news publications...
We remove ball-shaped hornet nests that form on eves of houses, bushes, and trees. These nests are usually visible and resemble a large gray paper ball. These can be tricky to remove when they are built high above the ground.
carpenter bees
Carpenter Bees are relatively harmless as far as stinging insects go. However, they are ruining your soffits and fascia boards. Many people call us saying they have woodpeckers pounding on their house and ruining their trim. They actually have a Carpenter Bee problem.
YellowJackets have a tendency to build their nests in the ground. These nests are often hidden and unfortunately many folks come across these nests while mowing their lawns or gardening. Yellowjackets are highly aggressive and these hidden nests can be very dangerous when they are stumbled upon.
inspections
We come to your home and go through every nook and cranny where queens are establishing nests. We know their nesting habits and where they like to hide, such as soffits, gutters, playground equipment, grills, and more. We look for new wasp nests and remove the queens and the nests. We look for new hornet nests that are forming on your house. We also look for potential problem areas and make suggestions of how you can reduce your chances of getting nests in the future...
Unique, in that they are now in your space, these nests are the most frightening for many of our customers. YellowJackets do sometimes chew through sheetrock and break themselves into homes.
consultation
We offer free advice and consultations to customers who are looking to hire us for our service.
“One can no more approach people without love, than one can approach bees without care. Such is the quality of bees...”
