Carpenter Bee Infestation

Carpenter bees are harmless to human beings. I've been surrounded by hundreds of them and never once was I stung or attacked. They are not interested in you, but they are interested in the wood of your house and outbuildings. The bees drill a 1/2 perfectly round hole. You often see the sawdust underneath the hole. They have powerful mandibles that can chew through wood. They make tunnels in the wood and pack them with pollen and eggs. Once the carpenter bees target the area, they will continue to come back year after year. I recommend putting a fresh coat of paint on any wood you have, if possible. Don't forget to paint behind the fascia boards on the trim of your house. Most of my jobs are combating holes where you can't see them.

If you see carpenter bees flying around your house or outbuilding, you should call me. While you are not in danger, they are ruining the wood on your home. Eventually, if you don't do anything, you will have to replace the trim. One other thing to keep in mind, many people have woodpeckers that rip their trim up on their house due to carpenter bees. The woodpeckers love they love the rich egg and pollen mixture.
